Samuel 1: Invincible With God

When David fought with the Philistine named Goliath everyone thought that Goliath would easily win against David. I think that the bible is trying to give us the message that everything in the eyes of God is possible. We already saw something that had all odds against it and even though it happened that was when Abraham and Sarah had a son when they were around 99 years old. This may seem very improbable, but it did happen in the bible. Also David defeated Goliath that was also a very improbable task to accomplish. Even today we see that some miracles happen. When a person is very sick and the doctors have told that person that he will certainly die, we see that sometimes they survive and the only thing that could have saved that person is God. Also we can interpret this win of David as the power of God will always be greater than any of any man. If you have God on your side you will be invincible and have all the power on your side. Another theme that was expressed trough this book of Samuel is the theme of forgiveness. We see that couple of times David has Saul in his hands and could have easily “smitten”Samuel1 30,1 him, but he doesn’t and leaves him at the fate of God. Sometimes it is harder to forgive than anything else in your life. If someone steals from you something that is very valuable and you find out you will be mad. If you get the chance you will steal something back from him, but imagine that you do not steal his valuable item. It would be really hard because he has done the same thing for you and David did it when forgiving Saul’s live.

I think forgiveness comes up in the New Testament. It's interesting that here we see forgiveness, perhaps for the first time. Although, you could argue that Abraham forgives got for having him almost kills his son.
